Pablo Ferrone sets out to create the finest handbags using the world's finest leather, to provide our customers with a classy and sophisticated experience.

For that reason we only use First Quality Full Grain Cowhide which provides a strong, supple and smooth material that lasts a long time. Full grain leather is highly sought after in the fashion industry.

Not all types of leathers are the same. Its quality varies greatly depending on the origin and treatment. Pablo Ferrone believes that the client must be sufficiently involved and informed in order to make the best buying decision. Information on the "grains" and "types" of leather can assist you in making a knowledgeable choice when selecting your next leather product.

Full Grain Leather vs. Top Grain Leather vs. Genuine leather

Full grain leather is the strongest and most durable part of the hide, yet soft and supple, is just below the hair. The grain pattern in this part of the hide is very tight. The leather made from here is the strongest and most durable leather.

Because of its location, this type of leather usually has some kinds of scratching and other natural markings. Top Grain leather refers to the process of sanding away blemishes but also the natural grain from the top surface of the leather. Imitation grain gets stamped into the leather to give a more uniform look, but no genuine grain remains. The word "top" often confuses seekers of the finest leather because it infers that it is related to quality.

The real "tops" in quality is Full Grain leather. It comes from a better quality hide, with few imperfections, and for that reason no sanding process is needed.  Full Grain leather offers a natural look and feel combined with a smooth and luxurious surface. The grain also has breathability, resulting in less moisture from prolonged contact. Rather than wearing out, it will develop a patina over the years, becoming even more attractive for the years to come.

The Genuine leather term might mislead the customer, making believe that it is the best quality of leather and usually offering it at a discount price that shortly differs from the most High quality leather. In fact, Genuine leather comes from the bottom-most layer of the cowhide, the third layer left after having splitted the cowhide in Full grain and Top grain. This means it is the lowest quality of products made of real leather. In this layer we don't find any grain, there are only fibres which are not tight as in Full grain leather and consequently it will tear up in a short time.

Genuine leather doesn't look and feel as nice as Full grain leather since it is usually coated with a layer of plastic, because of this; it has a fake grain pattern printed and it lose the natural look and feel that characterize the Full grain leather.

Floater Full grain leather

More in detail, we use floater leather. It is a natural and extremely pure full grain leather whose pattern effect has not been printed (unlike genuine leather that contains fake/printed textures).

The floater leather has an unprecedented natural softness, resistance, durability and flexibility which makes it the perfect type of leather for your handbag.

When looking for your next handbag or leather product, go always for the best quality.

Look for the Full grain leather, choose Pablo Ferrone.
